Keeper of good fortune, harbinger of luck. The idea of wearing a talisman or amulet for protection has a long history, as shown by the Latin word "amuletum" as an object that protects one from trouble. This amulet features an Australian Boulder opal with blue and white details that is surrounded by Japanese tile glass. Boulder opal refers to thin seams and patches of opal surrounded by or attached to its natural host rock, much of which is brown ironstone. The pendant hangs from an 18" satin gold-plate chain necklace with a lobster claw clasp.

Cost: $42.00 USD

Length: necklace - 18"

Materials:

  • Boulder opal and copper pendant
  • Japanese tile glass
  • Japanese glass seedbeads
  • gold-plate brass lobster claw clasp
  • satin gold-plate brass bar link chain

Care & cleaning: Clean with damp soapy water and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to clean tarnish appearing on metal.

Generally, the materials in this necklace can withstand tugs and pulls, but care should be taken to avoid hard impacts to the opal, as it is a softer gemstone and may chip or break. As with all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.
