Mesmerizing and agile black mambas live in the ground and trees of south Africa, and they are feared as one of the most deadly snakes. They are long, slender snakes that are usually beige to gray in color with a distinctive inky black mouth. The snakes are thought to be more aggressive than they actually are; they are more likely to retreat when threatened but attack with swiftness when cornered. The black glass spikes embedded with gold in this 17" golden necklace are handblown glass beads by artisans at Unicorne Beads, a small independently owned business in California that has delivering beautiful glass creations since 1967. The spikes are strung on 14kt gold-fill beading chain that is fastened with a small lobster claw clasp.
