This beautiful and unusual 22" necklace features aquatine (blue) calcite from Argentina. In Norse mythology, the gods Ran and Aegir personify the sea and live in a gleaming gold hall beneath the sea off the island of Hlesey. In the Poetic Edda, Loki uses Ran's net to capture the dwarf Andvari disguised as a pike and collect his gold. (Ran's net could catch anything in the sea.) The 3" long blue calcite gemstone pendant is like the cold sea, and the sterling silver marquise drop is like a scalloped net, sent to the depths to seek the pike. These hang from a 22" double strand sterling silver bar link chain that fastens with a spring ring clasp.

Cost: $128.00 USD

Length: necklace - 22"

Materials:

  • blue calcite pendant
  • sterling silver marquise drop
  • sterling silver components
  • sterling silver bar chain and spring ring clasp

Care & cleaning: Clean with damp soapy water and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to clean tarnish appearing on metal.

Generally, the materials in this necklace are robust to tugs and pulls, though care should be taken to avoid hard impacts to the blue calcite, as it is a softer material. As with all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.
