During the systolic phase of a heartbeat, the powerful lower ventricles of the heart contract to push blood to the lungs and body. The Greek "systole" (contraction) has been used since the 16th century to describe this squeezing of the heart muscle to send blood throughout the body. The delicate sterling silver heart filled with a radiant pearl in this colorful 20" necklace is a reminder of that happy action, even in the worst of times. The stones represent a variety of materials: rhodonite is a single chained Sally silica tetrahedra with manganese providing the rich rose color, green aventurine is a microcrystalline quartz, and turquoise is a phosphate often showing dark iron oxide matrix and found with copper.

Not all jewelry - particularly beaded jewelry - work well with all necklines. The 20" necklace is mid-length, which means it will rest naturally for many women in the top third of the sternum. This length is suitable with necklines of most crew necks and scoop necks, but it might compete with some V-necks.
