Traditional Japanese haiku are structured in three lines with a 5-7-5 syallable form. Matsuo Basho is a Japanese poet of the mid 1600s well known for his mastery of this form, and he often wrote of nature and his travels across the countryside. The haiku in the Seventeen Syllables card package take different inspiration: motherhood (in honor of Mother's Day in May). Some are thoughtful, some are humorous, some are nostalgic -- and all are built on experience from this unique and challenging life journey. The designs feature beautiful roses, a perfect way to share flowers with Mom.
Most beaded jewelry cord does not see spring sunshine or any sunshine really. Yet, jewelry cord itself can be a strong feature, particularly those metal-plated or color-plated beneath the nylon coating. Both the Squares necklace and the In the Name of Love necklace use rose gold plated stainless steel cord to bring warmth and structure to colorful designs. Other designs like Open Cluster and Net used beading cord to good advantage as well.
The return of sunshine means the return of bright colors of new growth, like the brilliant blues and pinks of the furnace glass in Building Blocks necklace or liquid blue-green colors of the hand-dyed silk ribbon in the Heroic necklace.
Spring sees the return of bolder style, with designs featuring larger elements with more saturated color, like the wood and resin beads in the Treble Clef necklace and the copper pendant with blue zircon gemstone chips in the Subterranean necklace.
